The Board of the Vaaler Creek Senior Men’s Golf Association (VCSMGA) is pleased that you are interested in joining our friendly group of senior golfers and we hereby extend a warm welcome to you. We now have well over 100 senior golfers (50+ years old) on the roster.
As outlined in our Mission Statement: “The Vaaler Creek Senior Men’s Golf Association (VCSMGA) promotes friendship and competitive fun golf for senior players at Vaaler Creek Golf Club. We believe that golf is a game created by gentlemen, and that golf is a sport driven by rules, honesty and respect, in a spirit of competitive cordiality. Our demeanor, attitude and actions are those we expect of true gentlemen and reflect ourselves and our club. We strive to treat all our VCSMGA members and their guests with respect and dignity.”
Though we play “fun and friendly golf’, our weekly games generally adhere to USGA rules, with some exceptions defined as ‘local rules’ These are noted in your welcome package in the document labeled ‘VCSMGA rule clarifications’.
We primarily use the GHIN system for managing player handicaps and score posting. A valid HCP is required to participate in VCSMGA Games. Other universally recognized HCP systems such as the WHS are also acceptable. At present, new members must have an HCP index of 24.0 or less to play in our weekly games. The Vaaler Creek Pro-shop can establish a GHIN Membership for you - please contact them directly to enroll. Once you begin playing with the VCSMGA, we expect that players post all scores, accurately and on a timely basis, to maintain the integrity of HCPs for our competitions.
Membership is on a recurring annual basis and the dues for membership are $30 per annum. We ask that you pay your dues before you play in your first VCSMGA game. Our weekly games are normally scheduled on Monday, Thursday, Friday and on either a Saturday or Sunday depending, in part, on other non-VCSMGA events that may occur during the week. ‘Game Organizers’ will send an email game invitation each week for their weekly game. Those interested in playing are added to the Tee sheet on a first come, first serve basis. Please sign up ASAP as space may be limited. If not interested, just delete the message.
The daily entrance fee for our games is $10 and cash prizes are awarded at the end of the round. We typically pay out ‘winnings’ to about 1/3 of the field and we pay out all but $10 which is retained in a player pool for those who may score a hole-in-one or a double eagle in a VCSMGA game. The player pool may also be used to help fund special events organized and conducted by the VCSMGA.
We will add you to our email distribution list so you will begin to receive all VCSMGA communications. You will then receive an email from Google Groups asking you to “accept” the invite. Once you accept you will then be added to the e-mail invitation list for all weekly game sign-ups. (Please check your email junk or spam folder as new members often receive initial communications in those folders until you identify the VCSMGA as a ‘safe sender’).
